R. Réal Vargas Alanis is a world renowned, indigiqueer, 2-Spirit, intersectional artist from the barrio of what is currently known as Winton, CA (Yokut). Réal focuses on new works centering social justice uplifting marginalized stories and artists. Réal is the current Artistic Director of the Arts and Advocacy Organization IN THE MARGIN, leading an ensemble of intersectional and interdisciplinary QT,BIPOC artists. They were among the inaugural cohort of the National New Play Network's Bridge Program's Producing Cohort and served as an Executive Produced for The New American Theatre Festival 2021, developing 10 intersectional new works. The Latinx Theatre Commons named Réal to be among "the best Latinx comedic talent in the Nation" for their piece "A Little Bit of Gay: A Standup Piece by a Homo."

 

Réal is part of the Latinx Mafia, Bay Area Native Theatre Artists (BANTA), Latinx Theatre Commons' Advisory Committee, and is a Casting Director with Bay Area Casting Collective, IN THE MARGIN, and RVA CASTING. They recently represented the California's Central Valley on the California Arts Council's Creative Corps Community Development Panel assisting in developing grant guidelines for the new $60 million one-time General Funds. Réal officiates weddings, is a Leo and loves to dance. Réal is also the co-owner of Sexii Tacos: Where the Tacos are Sexii and so are you."
